Course Registration
Enrollment Appointments/Windows
Your enrollment appointment/window is the period of time you have permission to register for classes. Your assigned enrollment window each term is based on your earned credits (not including current classes in progress).
See the full list of enrollment appointments and registration closing dates by semester on the Registrar’s website. Go to the section for Enrollment Appointments.
To find your enrollment appointment/window (the day/time you can start enrolling in classes for next semester):
- Go to MyFSU and log in.
- On your main portal page, click Academics at the top.
- Look for the My Courses section.
- Click on “Future” to see the day you can start enrolling.
How do I enroll in classes?
- We recommend using Stellic to search for and enroll (register) in classes.
- Stellic also has course drop and swap features.
What if I have trouble or get error messages when I try to enroll?
- Check the Registration Guide to make sure course registration is still open. Calendars for each semester are available at https://registrar.fsu.edu/registration-guides
- Make sure you don’t have any holds remaining that block you from adding classes.
- If you receive a Reserve Capacity error message, review the reserve capacity error message to find out more about the course limitations.
- A reserve capacity (commonly called a reserve cap) is a segment of seats that can be held for certain populations within a class section. This may mean seats are reserved for students in certain majors, minors, certificates, or programs (Honors, CARE, an LLC, etc.).
- Available seats are reserved. Reserved seat requirement not met. Student not enrolled. Available seats are subject to reserve capacity requirements.
- Try to find an alternate section in Stellic of the class that is not reserved:
- In the Courses panel, click on the class to expand the course details.
- Scroll down to review other sections of the class.
- Pay attention to any reserve cap notes that may appear on other sections.
- Click on the alternate section that you select and click the Confirm Courses for Registration button to continue with the enrollment process.

Strategies to Try if a Class is Full (Closed)
- Contact the department: Reach out to the department offering the course to ask about the best way to enroll. Use the phone number or email on the department’s website, rather than contacting an academic advisor. Some departments may:
- Have waitlists.
- Recommend strategies such as attending the first class meeting of any section that fits your schedule.
- If a student is dropped for missing the first day, you may be able to take their spot.
- Check for open seats as grades post: Begin checking for seats as soon as grades begin posting (ex. For Spring 2026, check after 4:00pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 through 11:59pm on Thursday, May 14, 2026 when Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 close). Other students may change their schedules due to:
- Academic performance holds
- Major changes
- Prerequisite checking that resulted in a course drop
- Check course search frequently during Drop/Add: Students change their schedules constantly throughout the Drop/Add period—often at all hours.
- Check Stellic or Course Search regularly using your phone or computer.
- Persistence pays off—many students can enroll in full courses when others drop or are dropped for nonattendance.
How to Reach Out for Help
Undergraduate students should either:
- Email ugs-registrationhelp@fsu.edu for assistance. Include details and screenshots if possible.
- Email your academic advisor or visit drop-in advising hours.
