Before enrolling for classes, students should check to make sure they have cleared all holds from their account.
How to View & Clear Your Holds
- Go to MyFSU. Click on the ‘SC’ icon, then the ‘My Tasks’ tile.
- Click on ‘Details’ to view instructions on how to clear the hold. You will see contact information and a description of what to do.
- If you have questions about a hold, contact the department that placed the hold for assistance.
- A “Note” doesn’t prevent you from registering for classes.
Common Holds
Student Health Insurance – Students must verify they have coverage annually or sign up for FSU’s available student health insurance. You may see this hold on your account a few weeks before course registration for a new semester begins. If you have this hold, you must do one of those two things at https://studentinsurance.fsu.edu/. This process will be changing effective June 1, 2024. Monitor studentinsurance.fsu.edu for more information.
Required Health Modules hold – Alcohol Edu and Sexual Assault Prevention training modules are required for all new undergraduate students. The modules take about 2 hours to complete. New undergraduate students may see this hold on their account after drop/add ends their first semester. Info at https://healthycampus.fsu.edu/for-students/new-student-requirements
Student Financial Agreement – This must be done every semester, but it’s a quick online form that must be completed and the hold will lift immediately. You may see this hold on your account a few weeks before course registration before a new semester begins. View hold details to link to the online form.
New ‘Nole Advising – New ‘Nole Advising is the mandatory session student attend to begin building a relationship with their advisor, understanding advising for your major, and sometimes course selection. You may see this hold on your account a few weeks before course registration for a new semester begins.
Other advising holds – You may receive other advising holds. Make an appointment and meet with an advisor so they can remove the hold. View the details to see which advising office placed the hold. That’s the advisor to meet with.
